QUIET CHORUS
QUIET CHORUS began in Melbourne when two school friends, Nina Park and Theo Walsh, started sewing in a shared studio above a laneway café in 2011. Neither trained as a designer; Nina came from textiles, Theo from music, and the name is theirs for clothes that should feel calm but still carry a tune.
Everything starts with the fabric. Each season they choose a handful of cloths first, washed, overdyed or left raw, and only then decide what to make from them. Most of it is cut to fit anyone, with wide legs, dropped shoulders and room to move.
Every collection is numbered and given a name, like chapters of the same long song. The pieces are made in small runs and meant to be worn hard, layered up for a grey Melbourne morning or down for the harbour at dusk.
